You can now submit nominations for the 2023 AWIEF Awards. The awards are given to women entrepreneurs and business owners in Africa who have achieved success and made have made significant contributions to the continent’s economic growth and social development in different industries.
About AWIEF Awards
The AWIEF Awards is organized by the Africa Women Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) it aims to empower women and bridge gender gaps in Africa. These awards recognize and celebrate both emerging and established female entrepreneurs in the private business and not-for-profit sectors. The nominees should have demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision, and inspiration despite facing challenges. Their work should have made a significant social impact and/or led to success in their businesses, aligning with AWIEF’s focus on innovation, technology, entrepreneurship, leadership, and socio-economic development.
The winners of the 2023 AWIEF Awards will be announced and honored at a special gala dinner during the AWIEF Award 2023 conference. The conference is scheduled to take place on November 9th and 10th, 2023, at the Kigali Convention Center in Kigali, Rwanda. The event is organized in partnership with Rwanda’s Ministry for ICT and Innovation and Rwanda Convention Bureau.
The AWIEF Awards have eight categories with specific criteria for each:
Young Entrepreneur Award:
Nominees must be female entrepreneurs or start-ups aged between 18 and 35 years. They should have shown exceptional entrepreneurial skills and spirit in building and growing successful and sustainable businesses. These young entrepreneurs should demonstrate leadership in their field and the positive impact of entrepreneurship. Tangible success indicators include revenue and the number of employees.
Tech Entrepreneur Award:
Nominees should be female entrepreneurs who have established innovative and groundbreaking technology ventures or start-ups.
Agri Entrepreneur Award:
Nominees should be female entrepreneurs who have achieved significant success and recognition in the agriculture and agribusiness value chain. They should demonstrate evidence of traction and impact on food security and/or the environment.
Creative Industry Award:
This award acknowledges the entrepreneurial success of women in various creative fields such as film, music, food, beauty, arts, fashion, media, advertising, design, and crafts. It recognizes disruptive and creative achievements in these industries.
Nominees should be women who have made substantial contributions to inspiring, mentoring, and empowering women and girls. Their efforts should have had a significant impact on the communities and society in which they operate.
Energy Entrepreneur Award:
Nominees should be female entrepreneurs in the oil & gas and/or green energy & renewable energy sectors. They should be running successful businesses that have an impact on energy access and/or availability in their communities and countries.
Social Entrepreneur Award:
Nominees should be female entrepreneurs who have developed innovative, sustainable solutions that directly address social issues. Their ventures should have transformative social impacts on their communities and countries.
Lifetime Achievement Award:
Nominees should be established women entrepreneurs and role models who have shown prolonged and consistent achievements in business. They should exhibit exceptional leadership and have made significant contributions to job creation and the economy.
Nominations for the 2023 AWIEF Awards close on 31 July 2023.
The nomination process for the AWIEF Award are:
- To Register an entrant profile create an account as a new user or login if you already have an account.
- Once you are logged in, fill in the nomination form with the required information.
- After completing the nomination form, submit it.
- You can either self-nominate or nominate someone else.
