About Giving Joy Grants for Women Entrepreneurs
Giving Joy is a special organization based in Massachusetts that helps women start and grow their own businesses all around the world. The person who started it, Joy Kolin, has been working in this field for 20 years and has visited more than 60 countries. She noticed something interesting during her travels, women have the amazing ability to make positive changes in their communities if they have the right support and opportunities. In 2018, she created Giving Joy to support and promote women-led businesses everywhere. Now, any woman from any country and any type of business can apply for a grant of money, usually between $250 and $500, to help them get started or expand their business.
Giving Joy works to make women’s entrepreneurship stronger and more inspiring all around the world. They do this by providing small amounts of money, called micro-grants, and by offering mentorship. These resources help women start new businesses or make their existing businesses better. By supporting women in this way, Giving Joy not only helps them succeed personally but also benefits their communities.
Funding Information
The grants provided by Giving Joy Grants for Women Entrepreneurs can range from $250 to $500. The grants are not given all at once, but rather in smaller amounts called installments. Each installment is given when specific tasks or goals are completed. The entire grant period lasts for six months, during which the recipient is expected to meet the agreed-upon deliverables.
Eligibility
Anyone from any country or state or territory in the world can apply for a grant from Giving Joy Grants for Women Entrepreneurs. However, the following criteria must be met:
- Age: You must be 18 years old or older.

- Your proposed grant activities MUST have a social benefit to your community and MUST go beyond the financial aspects of your business. The more social impact you can illustrate through your idea, the better and greater your chances of winning the grant.
They will NOT support activities related to the purchase of merchandise, stock, advertisements, or marketing. - Be as specific as possible, particularly regarding how you will use the grant funds. For example, if you plan on using the grant for a community event, training, scholarships, etc. please include a detailed list of the activity you will develop including estimated costs, what the event will include, who is the target audience, and how the event will impact women, girls, and families.
- Include, as much as possible, qualitative information related to the grant impact ( for example you can mention details like training for 10 women, each woman will train an additional 10 women, ultimately impacting 20 families and 50 children in the community).
How to apply
To apply for a grant from Giving Joy Grants for Women Entrepreneurs, follow these steps:
- Click on the online application form, look for the “Apply Now” button then click.
- Carefully Fill out and complete the application form with accurate information. Make sure to fill in all the required fields.
- After filling out the application form appropriately, submit it.
- You can only apply once during each cycle. If you receive a grant, you cannot apply again. However, if you do not receive a grant, you can apply again in the future.

Clear and Innovative Proposed Activities: We evaluate how well you articulate and explain your proposed grant activities. We value applications that demonstrate clarity and creativity in their approach to addressing challenges and making a positive impact.
Effective Use of Grant Funding: We consider how you plan to utilize the grant funding for your proposed activities. We assess the feasibility and efficiency of your budget and resource allocation, ensuring that the funds will be utilized effectively.
Clearly Outlined and Measurable Impact: We assess how well you outline and articulate the impact of your proposed activities. We look for measurable outcomes that can demonstrate the positive change your project will bring about.
Evaluation
Once you have submitted your online application to Giving Joy Grants for Women Entrepreneurs, it will be reviewed for compliance with the guidelines. A representative from Giving Joy may contact you if they need additional information or clarification regarding your answers. They may also request photos of you and your business/organization.
The applications are then evaluated by the Giving Joy Grants for Women Entrepreneurs staff using the following criteria:
Alignment with Giving Joy Activities: The proposed grant activities are assessed to ensure they align with the activities promoted by Giving Joy.
Innovative Use of Grant Funding: The staff evaluates how creatively and innovatively the grant funding will be used to achieve the proposed activities.
Demonstrated Grant Impact: The application is evaluated based on the demonstrated impact the grant will have on the applicant, her family, and the community. Giving Joy Grants for Women Entrepreneurs looks for proposals that have a multiplier effect, meaning they create a positive ripple effect beyond just the immediate beneficiaries.
Based on these criteria, Giving Joy will shortlist between 5-10 applications for each grant round. Due to the high volume of applications received, only those who are shortlisted will be notified. If you do not hear from Giving Joy Grants for Women Entrepreneurs, it means your application was not successful, and they apologize in advance for any disappointment.
