A Call for Proposals for the Innovation Fund under the RAISE-FS Project €50,000

A call for proposals for the Innovation Fund under the RAISE-FS Project €50,000. The Innovation Fund is under the Resilient Agriculture for Inclusive and Sustainable Food Systems (RAISE-FS) Project.

The Stichting Wageningen Research (SWR) Ethiopia is implementing the Resilient Agriculture for Inclusive and Sustainable Food Systems (RAISE-FS). The project is designed to create evidence for practices that contribute to the transformation of the food system.

The project will address leverage points in relation to productivity, enhanced value chain performance, and improved human nutrition for improved food security while minimizing the impact on the environment and ensuring social inclusion.

One of its interventions is promoting private sector-driven innovation by using a grants scheme called the Innovation Fund, which will offer funding to innovators. These innovation projects will address the various challenges in agricultural sub-sectors in Ethiopia and benefit smallholder farmers while improving food systems and enhancing selected commodities.

Eligibility and Requirements for the Innovation Fund

Participants must meet the following:

  • Participant’s proposals must address challenges in the poultry, pulses, spices, oilseeds, potato, and the vegetable sector.
  • The proposal should not be involved in another funding or supported or approved for funding by any other donor.
  • Participant’s proposals directly or indirectly benefit farmers, processors, consumers and/or contribute to youth and women’s economic empowerment.
  • The proposal submitted must be implemented within one year.
  • Participants are required to make cash and in-kind contributions towards the project.
  • Participants should be able to present a valid Ethiopian business license. As such, there is no restriction on the shareholder nationality of applicant companies.
  • Partnerships of multiple companies, NGOs, research institutions, etc. are allowed to apply as long as this partnership consists of at least one company that possesses an Ethiopian business license.
  • Foreign companies without Ethiopian business licenses are only allowed to apply in partnership with a company that possesses an Ethiopian business license.
  • Participants (principal participants in the case of group applicants) can not receive grant funding for more than one project at a time.
  • Partner companies, NGOs, and research institutions can be involved in more than one project at a time.
  • Companies can only re-apply a rejected proposal once. After the second rejection, the same project idea cannot be submitted again.

What You Stand to Gain from the Innovation Fund

Selected participants will receive grants in the following categories:

  • Grant Category – A: €25,001- €50,000
  • Grant Category – B: €10,001- €25,000

The application deadline is on the 24th of March 2024.
